You could imagine the conversation between Jesus and Moses up the mountain at the transfiguration “So, what have you been up to then Jesus?”
“Well, I’ve seen some healings… done a bit of teaching”
“OK but like, what else? I parted a sea dude.”
“Well, I walked on one and I’ve got a few followers bro”
“Yeah? I had a nation follow me. How many have you got?”
Jesus never parted a sea, or even a river. He didn’t even do a Bruce Almighty as far as we know. He could’ve released plagues against the pharasees and made them itch with lice, or even burned up the Romans. Why didn’t he turn a river to blood? OK Jesus resurrected a couple of people but Moses sent a plague that killed people. That is cool. Even one of Jesus’ most supernatural moments was when he met Moses up a mountain.
If we look to Moses, his life and call, man you could say it was astounding. He personified a prophet. The Burning Bush; how many people have cried out for a burning bush encounter “Lord let me meet you like Moses did”, and what miracles! How many prophets cry out to walk in the level of Prophetic Power that Moses did? When the Leader of the nation comes against you, you release plague after plague in Judgement against those who stand against your message from God. Impressive. He saw the deliverance of Israel and watched as He stretched out his hand to part the red sea. God anointed a single man to see the deliverance of one nation and the judgement of another simultaneously. God make me like Moses! I wanna be like him! He went on and said to the Lord: “Show me your Glory” Wow. How many times have I prayed this like Moses, to gaze into the Glory… for our faces to shine. What a man, what a ministry.
When Moses reached the Mountain of God he could feel destiny calling, it was the pinnacle moment of his life. Whats going to happen now??? God responded by giving him The 10 Commandments. The ministry of Moses was to bring the LAW and we should actually feel sorry for him. His ministry brought death and it even empowered sin (1 Corin 15.56 – the sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law). His Glory faded. Ours is here to stay.
“7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts! 12 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.” 2 Corin 3. 7-12.
There is no doubt that Moses’ ministry came with a weight of Glory. But you can’t look back to a lesser Glory when we have been given something greater. What is the Surpassing Glory that these verses are talking about? Grace. Grace comes straight from The Fullness of the Power of God. John 1. 16-17:
From his fullness we have all received grace upon grace; 17 as the Law was given through Moses, so grace and truth came into being through Jesus Christ. CEB
“6 For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift. 17 For while the Law was given through Moses, grace (unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ.” AMP
The message puts it well: We all live off his generous bounty, gift after gift after gift. We got the basics from Moses, and then this exuberant giving and receiving, This endless knowing and understanding— all this came through Jesus, the Messiah.
There is so much Glory on the Contemporary English Version: 16 Because of all that the Son is, we have been given one blessing after another.
All that the Son is can be wrapped up in Grace, which comes straight from the Fullness of God. WOW.
Even Abraham wanted to see Jesus’ day. But not because of the nation shaking plagues, miracles and judgement He was going to see. But because Jesus brought fulfillment to everything that came before Him. He brought completeness. Jesus was the fulfillment of every promise and every preceding covenant, of every prophecy spoken and brought victory over ALL Things. He seated Abraham, Moses, and everyone else in Himself by the Right Hand of the Father. Not only was the ministry of Moses completed and superseded by Christ’s because Jesus was the fulfillment of the law, Moses’ ministry only existed for the purpose of displaying the superior Glory of the New Covenant: Grace. Jesus brought justification to mankind. He brought union and seated us within the Trinity. How? Through the Power of Grace.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— BY GRACE you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2.4-6
There is a revelation of Grace right now that is hitting the church and it is not going away. We are coming to a place as the church, of realising that our good works can’t make us righteous. That our works and efforts, striving and battles are worthless because it is only through His Grace, which is a gift that we are made righteous:
He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit. Titus 3.5
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2.8-9
The implications of this are huge. We can believe this theologically but run our churches like its not true. When the revelation hits, everything changes. It impacts what we think about revival, healing, miracles, prayer, fasting, faith, righteousness, and every church program we have ever run; even the basic way church operates is turned on its head.
Bob Jones prophesied that 2000- 2010 would be a decade of the revelation of the ‘Glory’. Most people are agreed that this was very accurate. He says that 2010- 2020 will be the decade of understanding the Faith OF God, rather than just faith in God. I believe this is true and also know we live in an ERA of GRACE: The New Covenant. The cry of the reformation was ‘Saved by Grace through Faith!’ and we are beginning to mix Grace with the gift of God’s Faith.
God has faith in you. He believes you are a New Creation- He believes in you because He made you with a plan and a purpose. What does God think about you? ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.’ 2 Cor 5.17
Grace empowers you to live right
The revelation of Grace brings a greater understanding of our identity in Christ- that we are New Creations; the Righteousness of God. It brings an increased understanding of holiness- that we are free from sin because the sinful nature has been destroyed and we are a New Creation – that how can we who have died to sin live in it any longer?! When you realise you are a good person, you start to act like it!
It is the issue of identity and behaviour. If you think you are a bad person, guilt, condemnation and shame will drive you further into sin. Isn’t this what happened to Adam? He hid his face from God. So Christ came and through Grace brought to conclusion the corruptive power of Sin – in His death. And so in Christ, humanity has come face to face with forgiveness and Grace. When you hate and reject yourself it is a terrifying thing to come face to face with God. And yet with our mistakes we find God embracing our self hatred and self rejection, saying “I accept you and give you a new name – ‘The Rock’ and the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven”.
We are Sanctified Sons, pure and blameless with the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Great Grace brings Great Strength, Ability and Power
The Apostles lived in unbelievable power when they lived with Great Grace resting on them:
With great strength and ability and power the apostles delivered their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace (loving-kindness and favor and goodwill) rested richly upon them all. Acts 4.33 (AMP)
We have experienced a massive increase in authority with some unbelievable displays of God’s power because of this revelation of Grace- Creation responds to the Sons of God and we have seen this happen over whole regions and nations:
Dave Vaughan traveled to South Africa and prophesied that Lightnings would hit the whole country. They literally followed him around the country and when he then traveled to the Philippines that nation was also struck by great lightning storms.
We prophesied that the drought that was predicted for Summer 2012 in the UK would not happen. We cancelled the drought in the middle of April and the following week there was a torrential downpour of rain across the whole country which continued over a few months and brought every region out of drought. The BBC wrote:
“The UK has experienced its weirdest weather on record. The driest spring for over a century gave way to the wettest recorded April to June in a dramatic turnaround never documented before. The scientists said there was no evidence that the weather changes were a result of Man-made climate change… What was also remarkable – and also fortunate – was that more people did not suffer from flooding.” No evidence for man made climate change huh! They obviously didn’t read my blog! The whole article is here: UK Experiences Weirdest Weather
We can’t get away from Grace. Christ is taking us to a revelation of the immeasurable riches of His Grace. And as this happens the manifestation of God’s power through his Sons will be unbelievable.
So that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2.7-9
The Apostles saw great strength and power living in ‘great and rich Grace’, so I’m excited about the ‘Immeasurable riches’ of His Grace that is unfolding. It is bringing Immortality…
