Apostolic Reformation booklet

apostolic reformation 2

I have just completed a booklet on the Apostolic. It looks at what the apostolic is, the difference between Old Covenant and New Covenant Apostles and what the main emphasis for the apostolic is, under the New Covenant.

It also considers what the fulfillment of the apostolic looks like and gives some modern examples where this has taken place.

Harvest Rest pt. 2

Cease from your labours! Stop and let the Spirit swallow you up. Let the heavy weight of His Glory fall on you. I am going to describe an encounter with God I had recently while I was with my family.

My family and I were in Leeds in a place called Lotherton Hall. Its an old stately house with lovely grounds you can walk around near Leeds. We drove up and parked, overlooking the banquenting tent of a wedding. Instantly the weighty Glory of God filled the car and my wife and I were pulled into a trance while we sat there. The Spirit opened up to me and I could see angels approaching the car, they were gathering round and then I was like “angels are great, but wheres Jesus?” They stepped back to reveal a lion standing behind them. I knew it was the Lion of Judah.

As this happened I was lifted up above the car and I could actually look down on the car from where I was now standing. The Lord took me to a field of corn. I was surrounded by sheaves of corn and I began to walk through them. I realised I was standing in the Harvest Field of salvation and understood that each corn represented someone’s life. I took a sheave of corn and had a complete download about a particular girl’s life- the broken relationship with her dad that caused destruction and abuse, the redemption that came to her life as she met Jesus and then the restoration of her life through worship. I believe that I will meet this person at some point.

Jesus then began to speak to me about the story where He and His disciples pick corn as they walk through a corn field on the Sabbath. The disciples are accused of breaking the law but Jesus rebukes the pharasees and defends their innocence. What was the accusation? That they were doing a job, work and labour on the Sabbath day instead of entering the rest of the Sabbath, and this was breaking one of the 10 Commandments. But Jesus could not break the law because He is perfect – infact he is the fulfillment of the law. He was not breaking the law because He walks in the Sabbath rest; He is Lord of the Sabbath. He rests in completion. In Him IS rest. He has brought us into union.

I sensed that this story is a prophetic picture of the End Time Harvest- it will be reaped in a Sabbath rest. In this account in Matt 12 Jesus says “I desire Mercy” or “I will have Mercy”. I believe we are coming into the greatest Harvest that the Church has ever known, a world wide reaping as a Holy Revelation of God’s Mercy engulfs the globe and people respond in faith to what Christ has done. What is the Sabbath rest about? Mercy.

The universe has entered into the Sabbath Rest- Hebrews 4 describes this- its a pretty sweet state of affairs. God entered into rest on the seventh day- Seven in Hebrew is the numer for Completion and Perfection- and that is was Jesus meant when He said “IT IS FINISHED!!!” Mercy has come.

Jesus showed me that everything that we think He does, is actually a manifestation of His Finished Work. He ‘does’ all these things in rest because He cannot break the law – He fulfills it! Therefore the harvest, all moves of the Spirit, revival, healings,  all things that we ‘do’ in Christ, if it is truly IN CHRIST, is done from Rest. It has to be done from Rest otherwise it has no part with Christ. Christ has ceased from His labours and there is no more work and labour for him, it is actually impossible for Him to DO more for us because He would be breaking the law! He has done it all and is at rest. That is why we can rest and cease from our labours in Mercy.

True rest is not apathetic or lazy. It is a mindset and reality of victory in His Presence that bubbles up in Mercy; whether in healing, salvation, a business plan, economic policy or reformation- His Finished Work invades our life. The Heavens are open over your life, you are seated in Heavenly places.  Let His Presence rise up and enter into His Rest and His Mercy.

While I had this encounter with the Lion of Judah and the Harvest Field in the car my daughter was asleep in the back. The following week we realised she had learned a new trick- roaring!

The Finished Work manifested in our lives over the next few months after this encounter. I saw an increase in healings in my work place, it became so much easier to see healing- on one occasion I felt a gift of faith rise up and I knew everyone I prayer for would be healed in that moment. I saw nine healings in one go with one simple prayer. Over the course of two weeks, at the beginning of the Summer, I saw 35 people respond to the Gospel. One person at work even had a powerful and very real encounter with Christ in a dream!

We decreed an end to the drought a few months before the Summer as a sign that we are not in the wilderness, longing for some far off move of the Spirit but are seated in Heavenly places in Christ – Eden, that we are walking in an Open Heaven. We decreed that the Heavens are open over the UK and God has surprised us with amazing things! In Eden there is fruit: miracles, healings, salvations, angels, the cloud of witnesses and much more! I will be sharing about some of these encounters over the next few posts.

I’m so greatful we don’t need to strive for ‘revival’. Sometimes we can end up competing with other churches and christians for it. We are not looking for a revival to happen in the future at some point because we know that we are the wave, we are revival, we are the awakening NOW! Because we are seated in Christ, the Champion! God has made you a walking catalyst for breakthrough all the time, where ever you are NOW!

I thought that this was pretty amazing: A diamond manifested in our bed a few months ago. If this is not a sign of the Kingdom coming through rest then I don’t know what is!

The Spirit of Empire pt.2: Union

A Kingdom Mindset

Jason Westerfield prophesied that the Body of Christ will go from a church programme mindset to a Kingdom releasing mindset. He prophesied this over Bill Johnson in Bethel and that is what they have discovered. God has given a platform to Bethel because they have sought the Kingdom first. Many churches look at Bethel and try to emulate what they have but Bethel seeks the Kingdom first. You can have a miracle manifestation but be in a mindset wilderness- miracles don’t prove you’ve got the goods. The Israelites had miracles in the desert but God wanted to take them to the Promised Land to experience the Kingdom.

Uprooting the Empire

Martin Scott has carried a revelation about the Empire Spirit for about 15 years now. Others have stood like Roger and Sue Mitchell, Godfrey Birtill, Steve Lowton, Mike Love and many others and have carried a message that God is uprooting and opposing the Empire Spirit. I know that God is dealing with this issue in the church. Dale Gentry released a Prophetic Word many years ago that the wind of the Spirit of God was going to blow through the church and get rid of every plan of man, causing the things which opposed the Spirit to collapse. Churches which embraced this wind would experience a second more powerful wind of revival.

I walked with Steve Lowton in 2005 from London to Edinburgh as part of a team prophesying the Empire is over. We walked up the spine of the country, to uproot a mindset of empire in the nation. It was sore and I was definitely one of the worst walkers. God spoke to me during this walk that churches, businesses and ministries with an Empire mindset might look the same on the outside as ones that didn’t have it, but God looks at the heart and motive of the people.

Steve Lowton eventually walked from York to Rome. Martin Scott had prophesied months earlier that the birth of his grandson would be a prophetic sign of the coming Government of God – 12 representing this in Hebrew. So in the 20 minute window that they had in Vatican Square, the Pope appeared and they prophesied in the presence of the Pope that the Empire is over. Martin Scott’s grandson was born in this 20 minute window on the 21st of the 12th.

The History of Empire

When we talk about the Empire Spirit we are not talking about big and successful churches. We are talking about a demonic Spirit. This demonic spirit opposes the Holy Spirit. It can attach itself to mindsets, in a churches, businesses, groups or people. Being a big church doesn’t mean you have an Empire Spirit! But likewise being an apparant successful church is not a sign that you are free from it either! The issue is not found in what a church looks like but in its heart and mindset. The size of congregation is irrelevant.

It was the Emperor Constantine who first Christianised the Roman Empire and built what is known as ‘Christendom’. While this brought a time of blessing to the Christians in the Empire it confused the advancement of the Kingdom with the advancement of the Empire. This was the first time the church went from houses and living rooms to church buildings. It went from sending people out into the community to drawing people inwards. Many people think the church became inward focused at this time, serving itself rather than God and the needs of the people. It gathered money in, and ceased being a source of blessing to the poor. The centre of the church became Rome and the Head of the church became the Pope (I do love Catholics however just to clarify). The church became preoccupied with preserving and replicating itself rather than serving God’s plans.

The Fruit of Empire

The fruit of the Empire Spirit is self promotion, selfish ambition, competition and strife. It looks at everything else as a threat to its own position and so brings division and disunity. Because of its suspicion and jeolousy of other’s success it breeds prickly isolation between itself and other churches. It only networks with other churches which serve its own interests. It has a hierarchy which is top heavy. Leadership is seen as the pinacle and so it values the few at the expense of the many. It makes the many serve the few! It sucks people in, instead of sending them out. It promotes man based on his efforts and not the voice of the Lord. Like Judas it betrays the plans of God for the selfishness of man. In doing so it sets itself in rebellion against God. Rebellion is the sin of witchcraft and with the Empire Spirit there is always the operation of witchcraft.

We are not talking about hocus pocus magic when we say that but manipulation and control. Rick Joyner has written a great article called ‘Overcoming Witchcraft’ where he addresses these issues in the Church. In it he writes:

What God is building is not raised up by might or power, but by His Spirit. Whatever we build by other means is an affront to the cross and will ultimately oppose that which the Spirit is doing… Any authority or influence that we gain by our own manipulation or self-promotion will be a stumbling block to us and our ability to receive a true commission and authority from God.

You can read the whole article here: www.upstreamca.org/ocwitchcraft.html

Many writers including Roger Mitchell have written on the subject of the Empire Spirit. Dyfed Wyn Roberts has a great blog where he is exploring this issue: www.dyfedwynroberts.org.uk/

From Pyramids to Mountains

Pyramids are manmade mountains. I believe that the journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land is a prophetic picture for the church. It must go from slavery to Pharoah, building manmade mountains to walking among the Mountains of God, ruling in true Spiritual authority. It is the church’s destiny to LIVE in the Promised Land. Hebrews 4 calls this ‘the rest of God’ and gives the command ‘cease from your labours’. The church is called to cease from its labours and live in the Kingdom of God.

Sat in Christ, not Eygpt!

There is no hint of Empire in Christ. He was tempted by it in Luke 3.5 but the crosshairs of his earthly ministry were fixed firmly on the cross. The Devil jangled the Keys of the Kingdom in front of Him like a carrot on a stick and showed Him all the Kingdoms and Empires of the world, saying “I will give you all power and authority” but Jesus knew He could not serve the Empire Spirit and God. God’s Kingdom would cause Him to empty Himself and become nothing (Philippians 2.7) in order to truly restore the Keys of the Kingdom.

He opposed every opportunity that He had to establish an earthly rule, much to the frustration of his followers at times. Although His ministry platform only consisted of a few towns and cities He was not intimidated by the fact His disciples’ ministries would take them around the world. Neither was He jealous that they would see greater things than He would; that Peter would see people healed through his shadow, or that Paul would write more books for the New Testament than Him.

In Mark you have the what is called the ‘Messianic secret’ – that Jesus even hid his true identity of being the Messiah! Instead of seeking legitimacy and an endorsement from the Chief Priests He spent time with tax collectors and sinners. He took the low road to death, to a humiliating end to what seemed like a failed ministry. Even the first people He appeared to after His resurrection were people 1st C. Palestine did not value- women! Imagine the I told you so on the Pharasees He could have got, standing before them in resurrection power!

The Kingdom of God is an upside Kingdom. Jesus says “Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven 5” Matt 18. So often we can get caught up in trying to ‘serve’ the Big Names and yet Jesus teaches in the Parable of the Sheep and Goats ‘what you do for the least of these you do for me’.

Although Jesus opposed the Empire Spirit He wasn’t an anarchist. Infact He said ‘rend to Caeser what is Caeser’s. This is because the fruit of the Kingdom of God is righteous, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. The Presence of God is the focal point of the Kingdom. It has its eyes fixed on Jesus and makes the Presence of the King the priority. The Kingdom of God lets us enjoy our union with Christ. When this happens, when we rest in the Kingdom, the fruit we are seeking manifests naturally. I believe that this is what has happened in Bethel. It is not in their striving that they have seen revival but in their rest.

Union

What the Lord has been releasing is a revelation of our union with Him but in the coming days the Lord will release a revelation of our union with each other in the church. God wants us to realise we are one in the body of Christ. Philippians 2 states:

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

We might read this in the context of a local church and think ‘yes this is what our church needs!’ but the Lord wants us to see this in the context of His Kingdom. Whatever denomination we are in, whichever church we go to the Lord is releasing the revelation and understanding that there is no separation in the Kingdom, that there is no separation in Christ. We are one. The Kingdom of God turns the Empire on its head. Philippians 2 is calling for church organisations and ministries to serve and promote each other. For competing churches to value the interests of each other and actually work together (crazy thought I know!)

I love the Catholic understanding of the Communion of Saints. During the Eucharist they believe that in union with Christ they become one with each other and the Communion of Saints: the whole host of Heaven! We believe we are continually united to Christ. We are continually one with the communion of saints- both those on the earth and in Heaven. The Body of Christ is permanently united in Christ. The worldwide church has been united in His death and resurrection to each other.

In Christ there is no division of church walls and ministry. There is no seperation between denomination and local churches. There is union. Union with Christ and union with each other.

God has given us a revelation of unity within the church. The Body of Christ transcends the man made structures, boundaries and walls that exist on earth. God is releasing now a revelation of the family of God which will cause love to conquer all. The Spirit of Empire with its ugly manifestations will be overwhelmed by love and the revelation of union.

Even Jesus’ last prayer was for a revealtion of union in the Body:

20 Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching, 21 That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.22 I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one [even] as We are one: 23 I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.

Being united in Christ means we are united with each other. The Lord has given us the Glory so we can be one and then, Jesus says, the world will have a revelation of who Jesus is. That is a pretty powerful prophecy from Jesus Himself. Jesus is saying that the greatest form of evangelism is union. The biggest way we can bring a revelation of Christ to the world is though resting and enjoying our union with him and resting in our union with each other. No striving or competing but understanding we are one. Jesus said it himself: Revival will happen through our union.

‘Leeds leads’

It was prophesied by Martin Scott years ago that Leeds would lead and pioneer in the UK. 10 years ago when we were living in Leeds there were countless organisations set up across the city which brought together 30+ churches to work together. Leeds Youth Cell Network is pioneering a city wide network of youth from 30+ churches. Kidz Klub in leeds is the only Kidz Klub in the country which brings together 30+ churches from across the ciy to work together. I remember a friend of mine, Justin Thomas, commenting “it is now unheard of in Leeds for a program to be set up by one church on its own. Churches which are doing that are unseccessful here”. Network Leeds was established 10 years ago – a city wide website promoting and linking together churches and ministries from across the city. You can find it here: www.networkleeds.com/.

When we are talking about churches working together, we don’t mean a meeting once every 6 months. We are talking about working together week in week out, daily working on a team together. In this melting pot the church you’re from becomes meaningless!

The original vision for unity in Leeds came from looking at the unity present in churches working together in cities during the Argentinian revival. Jesus’ last words were demonstrated because the cities in Argentina turned to God in revival fire.

Leeds is a forerunning city in the nation but its now time for the UK to catchup. The prickly isolation, suspicion and competition between churches that exists because of Empire is being dealt with by God. God is releasing a revelation of union that will manifest the Kingdom in revival fire.

Harvest Rest pt. 1

Hebrews 4 talks about entering God’s rest; that the children of God can enter His rest by faith. Its amazing how many times i’ve heard multi gold medalist Steve Redgrave talk about the importance of being relaxed and having a laid back attitude towards competing at the highest level in world sports during the Olympics. Stress doesn’t help and doesn’t produce good fruit. I’ve heard athletes being criticised for one thing in the last week: not being relaxed enough during their race. The thing that marks Usain Bolt out above the rest of his competitors is his position of rest, before and even during his race. His body relaxes and rests in a position of total dominance. When you are naturally the fastest person on the planet you don’t have to strive to win! Being yourself is enough!

I’m so glad the Gospel is the natural state of Victory. It is the declaration that you’ve already won! How many comparisons have there already been about Jessica Ennis’ last 800m race and the Gospel? She had already won the gold in the Heptathlon but had one last race to go. This race became 2 emotional victory laps surrounded by an ecstatic crowd of witnesses shouting and crying her on to the finish line. You know Christ died for us and as us? He won for us and as us. Its as if Christ entered and ran every other race in the Heptathlon for Jessica Ennis, won them all and then set her up to run the last 800m as Champion with the knowledge she was already victorious. The last race becomes the victory march!

Winnie Banov is often quoted as saying “the saints were home before they started!”. Do you know you were forgiven before you were born? While we were dead in our sin Christ restored and seated us in Him (Col 2). We are seated in our destination and finishing line already- Christ. Religion says “work for me and i’ll bless you”, but Christ says “sit with me in the blessing.” Not just some, but every spiritual blessing possible! He has given us such an inheritance as Sons already, Heirs to the promise. We just need to open our eyes to the riches of it! When you realise you are a Son you don’t need to strive to achieve victory; you’re sat in it. Relax in Christ by faith. He achieved it all for you! There is so much rest in freedom. Freedom knowing that He poured out His life and gave you everything.

The orphan, not knowing his identity, tries to prove he has worth. So much striving and hard work goes into achieving greatness, proving he is someone. He runs around showing the world what he can accomplish and achieve and he builds a legacy to prove he has value. Orphans build Empires but the Kingdom of God comes through the Son. Adam ran away from his Father and endured a curse of hardship and labour. Jesus rested in His Father, His identity and His Father’s victory, even in death and established the Kingdom of God.

The Kingdom of God is like treasure hidden in a field. A man goes out and sells everything to buy the field. Christ poured himself out and gave up everything to purchase you, the treasure, cursed in the ground (Gen 3.17). He purchased you and gave you everything while you were still dead in your sin. God found you, the treasure, while you were covered in dirt, lost in the earth. There is so much rest in knowing your true value and identity; An Heir to the Promise- you’re His treasure! Have faith that being yourself is enough- He gave up everything for it.

Healing Booklet

I have just written a short booklet on Healing while I was teaching on Healing with Christ Church Armley. It contains teaching on healing from the revelation of the Finished Works Gospel. I look at how healing was easy for Jesus and the disciples and look at examples of extreme healing in the Bible. I explain how to access the Healing Power of God that is within you and how to manifest victory in this way.

Ring out Wild Bells!

Beni Johnson released this significant word for the UK about the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee:

This word resonated with me for various reasons. Two years ago I had a prophetic experience involving the ringing of a bell when my wife and I went to Sherwood Forest. In the middle of the forest there was an archery contest taking place and the Lord spoke to me and said “Enter the contest and it will be a prophetic sign for England.” I told my wife, who looked at the other contestants and worked out their average age must have been 12! Undeterred I signed up. Hanging in the middle of the target range was a giant bell and the Lord said “You are going to aim for the bell and hit it. This will be the sign!”. I am not good at archery and so decided to take a practice shot. I lined up and aimed at the practice target and completely missed. Looking round at the expectation of the 12 year olds gathered around me I took aim at the bell and shot. The arrow hit the bell and it started ringing out. At the same time my friend Godfrey Birtill wrote the song Ring out Wild Bells.

I also read the poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson called ‘Ring Out, Wild Bells’

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Ring out the grief that saps the mind,
For those that here we see no more,
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.

Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife;
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manners, purer laws.

Ring out the want, the care the sin,
The faithless coldness of the times;
Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes,
But ring the fuller minstrel in.

Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.

Ring out old shapes of foul disease,
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.

Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

A lot o’ Glory!

As the nation rings the bells it will be celebrating the year of Jubilee.  A Diamond Jubilee! I am so grateful that Christ brought in the eternal Year of Jubilee that started on the Day of Atonement for all mankind. Leviticus 25 describes this year: “You shall proclaim liberty to all the inhabitants of the land… there will be a Sabbath rest and you shall not sow nor reap what grows of itself.”Jubilee speaks of the forgiveness of debt, setting the slaves free and giving the land back to the people! Hebrews 2 describes a Jubilee Sabbath Rest for the people of God; that in the New Covenant there remains a Rest for the Children of God because He has rested from His labours.

In the Year of Jubilee we no longer reap and sow that which grows of itself. This means we don’t reap and sow our own crop. In John 12.24 Jesus speaks of his own death; “Unless a seed falls to the ground and dies it remains a single seed. But if it dies it produces many seeds”. As Children of God and Heirs with Christ we have the glorious freedom of reaping what HE sowed! There is such a Rest in knowing that the fruit we bear is not by our own efforts, but by His effort, through the Cross; that He proclaimed Liberty and Jubilee to all Mankind 2000 years ago. We are living in the year of Jubilee and we have the New Wine for the party!

Christ rung out the old and He rung in the new a while ago. So as we begin to understand the Gospel in the UK lets ring out the false and ring in the true, that a program heavy ‘doing’ Church culture will not bring change! Let us cease from our labours in the Year of Jubilee, instead of trying to get Christ’s job done for him. If God couldn’t do it through the ultimate sacrifice of His Son, do we really think our Human effort will?! Change and breakthrough will come when we realise He brought change and breakthrough for us.

So we say Ring Out Wild Bells! Ring out the Old! Ring in the New! Ring in Liberty, Ring in the freedom that Christ has won and Ring in the Wild Fire into the Wild sky! Ring out the false pride and ring in harvest time! Ring out Wild Fire across the nation! Your Kingdom come, Your will be done!

It is the enormous overmastering supremacy which the Christ showed forth, which operated in him, raising him from the dead. This Power established the Christ “at his right hand” in spiritual spheres supreme in every way, untouched, unimpeded by the authorities and having power over all other names, not only in this age but in the next... God raised us out of it all with Christ and sat us at the right hand of Power. Ephesians 1 (St. Paul from the Trenches)

Victory is pretty easy: You are sat in it.

The Spirit of Empire pt. 1

This update contains some thoughts on the Empire Spirit, and also a prophecy for the Summer- Enjoy!

The Spirit of Empire

image

Spiritual maturity does not always equate to title, position and platform in the natural. In Christ’s moment of victory on the cross, he had been betrayed and denied by his followers. By all accounts he looked defeated and was treated like a blaspheming criminal! But through man’s betrayal he brought humanity’s Salvation.

God’s way of doing things does not always agree with our way of doing things and sometimes looks foolish. There is something wrong when we can have a successful church meeting without God’s Manifest Presence even being there. The Spirit of Empire causes man to build something which is at odds with the Presence. It may look good and sound wise, just like the pharasees’ expectations for the Messiah, but in the end it causes you to betray the very thing you have been waiting for.

The Empire Spirit seeks its own agenda for its own sake. In its competitiveness it will forsake the widow and orphan for the achievement of its selfish ambition. It breeds Career Christians, church promotions and gives promises of leadership titles on the grounds you serve it.

image

True Sons value the Presence above all else. Consider Brother Lawrence. His book “The Practise of the Presence of God” is an international classic. The kitchen dishwasher became a literal living pilgrimage destination because of the Manifest Presence he lived in. Scripture writes that the Sons of God are led by the Spirit. His reputation was transformed from being regarded as a good washing upper to being internationally recognised as a mystic, teacher and source of wisdom. He didn’t have a strategy. He stayed whacked up in the Glory. He cared not for himself and inherited the Kingdom of God.

(Martin Scott has taught on the Empire Spirit extensively. I highly recommend listening to or reading his material on the matter.)

Open Skies, Open Heaven:
Prophesy for the Summer 2012

image

The last update  contained a decree I had written, about the forthcoming drought that had been predicted on the news and weather bulletins. I prophesied that in the Summer there would not be a drought and that the weather would reflect the truth; that we are not in a desert season or wilderness. Instead Christ has restored us to Eden. This is a truth whether we believe, see it, walk in it or even disagree with it! Believing this truth will see it manifest. Faith is the Substance of things hoped for! And so when we believe truth it becomes reality.

The week after I had prophesied “No Drought” the BBC news reported that areas in the country went from “drought to floods in a week”. It said on the 27th of April, a few days after I had prophesied, that there had been “a dramatic change in the weather in the last few days.” Two weeks later the BBC reported that the rain which had fallen in the second half of April had caused it to be the wettest April in about 50 years. It was then reported that many areas of the UK were officially drought free.

God is causing a people in the nation to rise up in faith and start to believe in a God of Wonders. God is causing His Sons to walk in Life. This Summer there will be no drought but it will be a Summer of clear blue skies and sun filled days. The rain will stop in time for the Summer and it will be marked by Joy and Hope. The open skies will reflect the Open Heavens.

Proverbs 13.12 talks about Hope Deferred causing the heart to be sick. So many people are living in disappointment and disillusionment but I prophesy that this Summer the “longing fulfilled will be a tree of life”. This will be experienced nationally.

The Supernatural Nature of God

It is impossible to believe in God without his help. The act of believing in God is a supernatural gift from Him. Faith is a gift and we can’t drum it up or do it without Him.

Because of Christ’s nature we can’t have faith in God without fully embracing the Supernatural. Christ is both man and God, there is no seperation. God became natural flesh. He is the natural doorway to a supernatural relationship. In Philosophy God is described as being ‘metaphysical’ which means beyond the natural world and it was Christ’s mission to re-connect us within this reality. Because of Christ we are now fully supernatural while being totally natural. You ARE metaphysical. We don’t need to strive to be miraculous; we can rest in our true identity. There is no distance and no seperation between you and supernatural power. You’re plugged in.

God is supernatural, Christ has embraced us into this reality and so we are fully supernatural Sons. He has made us whole!

It is impossible for you to not be supernatural! Sitting takes no effort and it is by realising we are sat in Christ we can wield true authority. This is not just for one off displays of power like Elijah but is for an eternal union with Christ. And this is why the greatest displays of God’s raw power will be seen by a company of Sons intoxicated by His love while gazing into His eyes! They won’t be contending for the miracle, they will be resting in Him.

So while the media are declaring over the UK that this summer there will be droughts, we are saying there will be no droughts! The UK is not in a desert season! We make a decree that before this summer the land will be watered and we command the natural land to recognise
its spiritual reality – in Christ there is no desert season and no drought! We believe weather
patterns will come into line with truth this summer!

Glory!

A New Era: New Covenant Christianity

20141129-172031-62431876.jpg

Christianity as we know it is permanently changing before our eyes.

I heard this story relayed by a leader of the Toronto Airport Church- that in the early days of Toronto prayers like “Holy Spirit we give you permission to move” were prayed at the start of the meeting. The Glory would fall and the meeting would blow up. These prayers were prayed until God said one day – “I don’t need your permission to move!”

It got me thinking that God often moves despite us and not because of us! He blessed the meetings in Toronto but this was not an endorsement that everything they did and said was good and right. A ‘move of the Spirit,’ ‘revival’, ‘wave’ whatever you want to call it, will never be a badge of accomplishments or an endorsement that we have got it right, or that our mindsets are correct. It will never be a brownie badge for how much we have fasted and prayed to get Him to do something. The Spirit is not our badge of achievement, He is our friend! He wants you to enjoy Him in the perfect union that cost Christ everything.

God wants to do something new and different than he did in the 90s. He wants us to think beyond another Toronto Blessing or Outpouring. We have got to think differently because God is going to do and is doing something New and Amazing. It looks totally different. The New will blow the old box up! The old mindsets and ministry models are being redefined. It’s not that they were wrong; they were good for a season but they can become stumbling blocks for the ‘now’.

Jesus spoke about this:

‘To what can I compare this generation. They are like children sitting in the marketplace calling out “We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.” 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He has a demon!” 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, “Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!” Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.’
Matthew 11.

God will not dance to the rhythm we set! He taught us to pray “Your Will be Done”! When John came he brought a message and a manifestation for a certain season. When Christ came he looked and acted differently but was anointed by the same Spirit for a new season. He ushered in the New Era. We need the Spirit of Wisdom to recognise the NEW because it won’t look anything like the old. If we don’t have wisdom we will judge the new by the old and discard it. We have done the same programs and events year after year and expected different results. Not only is this the definition of insanity, God has moved on and it’s time for change!

God is redefining Christianity before our eyes. The Kingdom of God is always advancing and so if we try to recreate or revisit something He did 20 years ago we will miss what He wants to do today! Hebrews 3.15 says “Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts”. There is a call going out to people to recognise what God is doing TODAY. God is asking us to not harden our hearts towards the New Thing He is doing. We cannot afford to be offended by what he is doing or what it looks like. There is a blessing waiting beyond offense. Matthew 11 says: “Blessed are those who are not offended because of me.” We have lived in a season of John the Baptist; believing we are in the wilderness, as prophets called to the desert and to the hard place, to suffer and mourn but Christ is calling us to recognise we are in the New Covenant – the New Era. This is marked by Eden, paradise and Bliss: Union with Christ!

Mike Bickel said a few years ago that God was about to do something so amazing He would redefine Christianity in a generation. The prophets have been talking about it for a while: Jason Westerfield has prophesied that we are in a time of reformation and Martin Scott has prophesied that the birthing of a whole new era is coming. Dave Vaughan of the New Ecstatics (the ministry we are associated with) had an encounter where God showed him Martin Luther pacing back and forth. In this encounter Luther was thinking these same thoughts for reformation and transformation exactly 500 years ago. Luther spent 10 years meditating on Romans and Hebrews and from this he wrote his ‘Ninety Five Theses’. He nailed this to the door of the church in Wittenberg in 1517 (according to one source). This marked the start of the reformation.

God is causing the current reformers to meditate and feast on the same scriptures as 500 years ago! Romans has opened up to so many in such a new way.

Reformation

I can see that the coming reformation will reveal a greater understanding of New Covenant Christianity. It will affect many areas but I’ve highlighted these 3:

  1. How we view God:

We are understanding that God is not some angry, vengeful Father but a God who is and always was Good! Jesus is the most complete representation of the Father- “when you’ve seen me…” We are moving beyond the scary, angry God found in penal substitution as God reveals more of who he is, to rediscover an older and more orthodox view of God found in the works of the early church fathers and displayed in the Christus Victor atonement theory.

We are also seeing coming to a fresh revelation of the power of the cross – and it’s implications – that God fully accomplished all things through the cross.

This is the Finished Works- that He truly defeated every foe and is seated above every principality and power (Ephesians 1.21). Christ has effortless supremacy (Colossians 1.15) and we too have been seated in Him in the Heavenly realms (Ephesians 2.6, Colossians 3). Because of this we can rest in His Finished Work rather than striving to complete something for God or battle in spiritual warfare against something we feel we need to defeat. He defeated them all, He made captivity captive! (Romans 8.37, Ephesians 1.22 and 4.8, 1 Corinthians 15.27 and 46, Colossians 2.15)

This affects everything. He is victorious and by resting in faith in Him, we will see His victory rise and manifest all around us. We don’t need to do spiritual mapping or wrestle against principalities and powers. We are called to believe the truth and strangely by resting in His victory we begin to walk in it! First as individuals, then as a company, and then to change a nation.

2. How we view ourselves:

You no longer have a sinful nature (Romans 6) and because God has accomplished all things He has made us New Creations (2 Corinthians 5.17). God has rewired our humanity with His divinity. We are not sinners running scared of a judgemental God but are Sons adopted into His family with the same divine DNA running through our veins.

We are seated in Christ (Ephesians 2.6) and have the image of God restored on the inside of us. We have been united with Christ the King forever (Romans 6) and through this union we have access to a royal inheritance fit for gods.

The problem has been that we haven’t realised this and so have not operated from this revelation. We’ve been homeless, eating from a pig’s trough, when we could have been eating the fatted calf with our Father the King. The truth is we have the fullness of the Godhead, the Glory residing within us. We can access every spiritual blessing and gifting and have been given the fullness (Colossians 2.10).

We access all this by faith which is a gift. We did nothing to get it and our efforts to strive to attain all this are not needed (Ephesians 2.8). But all this is available as a free gift as Sons for our inheritance. We will do and see the most incredible things ever seen on earth because of what He has done (Philipians 4.13, Mark 9.23). The Gospel is built around the supernatural because He is supernatural.

3. How we view community:

Christ destroyed the Temple and rebuilt it in 3 days (Matthew 26.61) – that is you! The New Creation is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6). Because of this we no longer have to strive to go to a church building or temple. We are the Body of Christ and this transcends manmade denominations, boundaries, walls and structure.

We are seated IN CHRIST above these divisions (Ephesians 2.6). We can enjoy community and friendship wrapped up in Christ every day and all around us. This is the true Body of Christ – focused on friendship and family, rather than meetings and buildings. We are the living stones of the Church – in the world but not of it, wrapped up in love for one another, worshipping in Spirit and Truth (John 4).

In the Old Covenant people had to travel to a particular place to worship God. In the New Covenant god revealed that ‘He is with us’. He is here all the time because He resides within us! The focus on going to the Sunday morning meeting is being overtaken by a lifestyle of the Glory manifesting in our homes. Signs, wonders and the Spirit will not be contained by a building, conference or meeting but will be demonstrated by Sons and Daughters where ever they are, all the time. They know who they are because of what He has done.

People will realise they don’t have to go to church to get ‘filled up’ but will manifest a Glory that resides in their home all the time! This will cause gatherings to happen around the Presence, around the Cloud of His Glory, rather than individuals and organisations.

There will still be corporate gatherings, wider celebrations, and this may or may not be in a local congregation on a Sunday. But the focus will shift dramatically away from the maintenance of these meetings to life and family. We will also see bigger sized gatherings of the tens of thousands in stadiums .

After the visible manifestations of the Glory in Bethel, Bill Johnson commented that there would be a shift in the focus of gatherings and people would gather around the Presence. I believe that the manifest Presence will gather people together- in homes and in stadiums.

The charismatic personalities of leaders that have drawn people together in the past will be irrelevant as people focus on the Glory rather than man.  The revelation that Church is something we are, rather than something we are trying to maintain will be caught.

Fear and control

In short the fear and control that has ruled so much within the Church  – fear that God is not on our side; fear that He will not be with us; fear He will not show up and the control that this has caused in the running of our churches and ministries will be crushed by the Spirit and Revelation of Sonship (2 Timothy 1.7, Romans 8).

Fear and control causes ‘bewitchment’ and Paul rebuked the Galatians (Galatians 3) for becoming ‘bewitched’. What we will see is the deliverance of the church from the fear and control that causes bewitchment (witchcraft) with the Spirit of Sonship.

Luther lives today!

In the next 10 years there will be books, webcasts or documents of some sort which will be written by modern day Luthers, which will be the nail in the coffin for contemporary Christianity. This is the significance of the hour we live in. God will use these articles to be so influential they will redefine Christianity and will be studied for the next few hundred years.

They won’t just be academic pieces of writing; they will carry the manifest Glory of God, they will manifest supernatural signs and wonders. And their heart cry will be the message of the Finished Works of the Gospel. I have already read some of the books that will become ‘classics’.

Honestly I can’t go back to ‘normal Christianity’. I have tried! But we have seen something New! And it is Glorious!

The underground move of God which is happening right now will overtake the norm and it is out of our control. The word ‘revival’ will be made redundant as people realise it is the normal Gospel life of a Son. One of the most exciting moments in the last few weeks for me was overhearing some ‘non Christian’ people at work talking about healing. One person was describing to his friend a healing he had experienced when I had prayed for him and how amazing it was. A few minutes later he realised I was there and turned to me and said how convinced of God’s healing power he was.

There are signs and wonders happening by the nameless and faceless all over the country. In work, on the street, in the home, over dinner, in cafes, at church meetings; God is moving out of the box. It is not by our efforts; we can’t claim this one as ours I’m afraid! But it’s by His Spirit because of the victory He won on the cross. Not by our efforts! He will not dance for us or mourn for our dirges! The Lord is doing His own thing and it is out of our control.
